The initial 'Out of the Shadows' project was funded by a British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award.
It aimed at establishing a network of ECRs researching covert action in US and UK history and at engaging secondary schools students and teachers. The project enriched the secondary school curriculum by bringing the Cold War and covert action to the classroom.
Since then, project lead Dr Luca Trenta has continued to run the Out of the Shadows Podcast, now in its third season.
